MAKING BUDDHA STATUE

As part of their graduation project, students from the Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School of Cultural Property Conservation Department's Sculpture Conservation and Restoration Lab will sculpt a replica of a Buddhist statue.

It is a replica not only in terms of its superficial appearance, but also in the sense that the internal structure of the statue is recreated to be identical to the real thing.

By doing so, the author's intentions and the ingenuity he used become clear.

It is very important for the artist to "understand" the work through re-experiencing it, and this also helps with restoration.
