When I was a child growing up in Nagano, animals were always around me.

They didn't speak, but I felt like their intentions were very clear.

I was a shy person and I think I felt more like myself around animals than around people.

When I moved far away from them and started living in Tokyo, I clearly realized that they had fulfilled a part of my heart.

That was how I started carving small animals.
